Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH)

Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH)

Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmetation (PIH)

PIH is a form of high blood pressure in pregnancy. It occurs in about 7 to 10 percent of all pregnancies. … high blood pressure (a blood pressure reading higher than 140/90 mm Hg or a significant increase in one or both pressures) protein in the urine.

Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) can be brown or black marks caused by an overproduction of melanin. Think Freckles, Birthmarks or most common SUN SPOTS.

  • What causes PIH?

PIH is triggered by an inflammatory response that initiates melanin production. Possible causes include: getting a pimple, aging, pregnancy (melasma), hormones, and sun exposure.

Use A Skin Lightener (BB- Cream)

MI offers A skin lightener proven to help fade and suppress melanin cells. Mi always advise its clients to go the non-prescription route first, since prescription bleaches like hydroquinone may not be safe for topical use. Mi second recommended product is the All in Face WASH PACKED WITH Magnesium & Phosphate, a form of Vitamin C that is a proven melanin suppressor. There are also other fading ingredients like Mushroom extracts, kojic acid, and Daisy extract that can also help inhibit melanin production.

Why is this important? Because the sun causes your skin to produce more melanin in order to protect itself.

Ever wonder why dark skinned people don’t burn as easily? It’s because they have more melanin to protect themselves. More melanin means less susceptibility to sunburn. WHY WE STRESS ON Melanin, BECAUSE IT protects your skin from the sun by absorbing 50-75% of UV radiation.

Melanin is the driving factor behind hyperpigmentation issues. The less work we give to our melanocytes, the better our prospects are in treating PIH.

This is why sunscreen is so important! It works by absorbing UV radiation, so melanin doesn’t have to. In other words, it’s doing the heavy lifting so your melanocytes can take a break. As a result, less melanin is produced — therefore, less hyperpigmentation. Get it?
